Blog #1 Adjusting to college life

Hello everyone, Welcome to my first Blog. I am currently a transfer student in my first semester here in TCI. I have gotten a book called " College Rules" from school my instructor request me and my classmates to read. I have just read Chapter 1, "You're in the Big Time Now" and Chapter 2, "Where to Find the Help You Need.

The book is sort of a self-help guide to being a college student in our everyday life. It also shows us how to balance our life between college, work, and family. In chapter 1, page 9, the Author gives us a summary chart of keywords to follow. Words such as Self-Discipline, Motivation, A Game Plan, Patience, and others learning strategies.

I must say these tips in the book help me to prepare and understand the importance of preparation in college. The text style and format makes this book interesting to read with its funny quotes student values. I admit, the book bought back memories to me when I was in another college a while ago. I felt nervous meeting people like I did back then. The book did not reflect that much on me other than my peers and preparation for college.

After reading the book, I still have more adjustments to make than I was prepared. I have not been in college in several years and I went threw a lot of running around to retrieve information on my whereabouts in college earlier. I was getting transcripts and info on finance and living arrangements. I now have to adjust and get use to my school schedule and my life around my son. I'm am still not use to my schedule yet but it will all be worth it at the end.

School is important to me and I want to show my son even is father wants to continue his education to achieve his dream in life. I hope to continue my education and finish this time in TCI. My son is inspirational enough to me to ensure success. This is to any new freshman or transfer student whose a parent like myself interested in going to TCI. I would do my research first on the curriculum and then decide if I can adjust my schedule and dedicate my time for it. Good luck to everyone pursuing their education in their career. The path starts here in TCI.
